For a 1 lb large standard item priced $10 to $50, Amazon's 2026 FBA fulfillment fee is $4.60, plus a 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge of $0.16, for $4.76 per unit. The same item costs $3.91 if priced under $10 and $5.03 if priced over $50 ($3.78 and $4.86 before the surcharge). During the holiday peak, October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027, each of those totals rises by $0.30, to $4.21, $5.06 and $5.33.
Assumes a 16 oz item in an 8 x 6 x 2.5 in box (dimensional weight 0.86 lb). Bigger boxes (over 139 cubic inches) cost more. US non-apparel rates.
The 1 lb fee at every price band
The 2026 fee table has three price bands: under $10, $10 to $50 (both ends included), and over $50:
| Price band | Non-peak (to Oct 14) | Peak (Oct 15 to Jan 14) |
|---|---|---|
| Under $10 | $3.78 + $0.13 = $3.91 | $4.07 + $0.14 = $4.21 |
| $10 to $50 | $4.60 + $0.16 = $4.76 | $4.89 + $0.17 = $5.06 |
| Over $50 | $4.86 + $0.17 = $5.03 | $5.15 + $0.18 = $5.33 |
Ship the same 16 oz item flat (10 x 8 x 0.75 in) and it's small standard: $3.05, $4.10 and $4.37 across the three bands, non-peak.
FBA fee by weight chart (2026)
Each box is thicker than 0.75 in (large standard) and small enough that dimensional weight stays below real weight.
| Weight | Box (in) | Under $10 | $10 to $50 | Over $50 | Peak, $10 to $50 |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 4 oz | 6 x 4 x 1.25 | $3.01 | $3.86 | $4.13 | $4.11 |
| 8 oz | 7 x 5 x 1.5 | $3.24 | $4.09 | $4.36 | $4.36 |
| 12 oz | 8 x 6 x 1.5 | $3.50 | $4.35 | $4.62 | $4.64 |
| 1 lb | 8 x 6 x 2.5 | $3.91 | $4.76 | $5.03 | $5.06 |
| 1.5 lb | 9 x 7 x 3 | $4.76 | $5.61 | $5.88 | $5.93 |
| 2 lb | 10 x 8 x 3 | $5.18 | $6.02 | $6.29 | $6.37 |
| 3 lb | 12 x 9 x 3.5 | $6.05 | $6.90 | $7.17 | $7.33 |
Above 3 lb: $6.97 at $10 to $50 (non-peak, before surcharge) plus $0.08 per 4 oz over 3 lb, up to 20 lb.
Small standard vs large standard
Up to 1 lb, flat packaging wins. $10 to $50, non-peak, surcharge included:
| Weight | Small standard (9 x 6 x 0.5) | Large standard (chart box) | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| 4 oz | $3.54 | $3.86 | $0.32 |
| 8 oz | $3.66 | $4.09 | $0.43 |
| 12 oz | $3.91 | $4.35 | $0.44 |
| 1 lb | $4.10 | $4.76 | $0.66 |
How Amazon decides the size tier
The calculator runs this logic, in order:
- Sort the packaged dimensions: longest, middle, shortest.
- Small standard: up to 15 x 12 x 0.75 in and 16 oz. Billed on unit weight, in 2 oz steps.
- Large standard: up to 18 x 14 x 8 in and 20 lb shipping weight. Billed on the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight (length x width x height in inches, divided by 139), in 4 oz steps to 3 lb.
- Anything bigger is bulky or extra-large. Small bulky starts at $7.55 at $10 to $50 (non-peak, before the surcharge; $8.59 in peak).
A common packaging mistake: moving up a weight band
Amazon measures the packaged unit, not the product. Three ways that bites, at $19.99, non-peak, surcharge included:
- Thickness. A 16 oz item in a 10 x 8 x 0.75 in mailer is small standard: $4.10. Make it 1 inch thick and it's large standard: $4.76. A quarter inch costs $0.66 a unit.
- Weight. 16 oz in an 8 x 6 x 2.5 in box is $4.76. Add 1 oz of inserts and bubble wrap, and 17 oz lands in the next band: $5.22.
- Box size. In a 10 x 8 x 4 in box, the same item's dimensional weight is 2.30 lb, which Amazon bills: $6.31, or $1.55 more than the snug box.
Worked example: a 15 oz item at $19.99
An example product, first in a 9 x 6 x 3 in box:
- Shortest side is 3 in (over 0.75), and it fits 18 x 14 x 8, so it's large standard.
- Unit weight: 15 oz = 0.94 lb.
- Dimensional weight: 9 x 6 x 3 = 162 cubic inches ÷ 139 = 1.17 lb.
- Shipping weight is the greater: 1.17 lb, in the over 1 lb to 1.25 lb band.
- $19.99 is in the $10 to $50 band: $5.04.
- Surcharge: 3.5% x $5.04 = $0.18. Total: $5.22.
Same product, 8 x 6 x 2.5 in box: 120 ÷ 139 = 0.86 lb, under the real 0.94 lb. Amazon bills 0.94 lb, the over 12 oz to 16 oz band: $4.60 + $0.16 = $4.76.
That's $0.46 a unit, or $460 per 1,000 units, non-peak. In peak it's $5.53 vs $5.06, a $0.47 gap. The smaller box also stores cheaper: $0.17 vs $0.23 per unit per month at the October to December rate of $2.40 per cubic foot.
Fuel surcharge and peak season in 2026
- 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge: on the fulfillment fee since April 17, 2026; $0.13 to $0.17 on a 1 lb large standard item ($0.14 to $0.18 in peak). Older fee lists omit it.
- Holiday peak, October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027: a higher fee table. A 1 lb large standard item pays $0.30 more in every band. The calculator applies the 3.5% to peak rates too.
- Storage jumps too: standard-size goes from $0.78 to $2.40 per cubic foot per month in October to December. See Amazon FBA storage fees in Q4 2026.

FAQ
What is the FBA fee for a 1 lb item in 2026?
For a 1 lb large standard item, the 2026 non-peak fee with the 3.5% fuel and logistics surcharge is $3.91 under $10, $4.76 at $10 to $50, and $5.03 over $50. From October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027, each is $0.30 higher.
Is a 1 lb item small standard or large standard?
It depends on the package. At 16 oz or less in a package no bigger than 15 x 12 x 0.75 inches, it is small standard ($4.10 at $10 to $50, non-peak, with surcharge). Thicker than 0.75 inches but within 18 x 14 x 8 inches, it is large standard: $4.76 if the box's dimensional weight (L x W x H / 139) is 1 lb or less, as in an 8 x 6 x 2.5 inch box. A bigger box is billed on dimensional weight: $6.31 in a 10 x 8 x 4 inch box.
Does Amazon charge FBA fees on dimensional weight?
Yes, for large standard, bulky and most extra-large items. Amazon bills the greater of unit weight and dimensional weight (length x width x height in inches, divided by 139; bulky and extra-large count width and height as at least 2 inches). Small standard is billed on unit weight only.
How much is the FBA peak season fee in 2026?
Peak rates apply from October 15, 2026 to January 14, 2027. For a 1 lb large standard item priced $10 to $50, the fee goes from $4.60 to $4.89, or from $4.76 to $5.06 with the 3.5% surcharge.
